Frequently asked questions about our new online appointment system
Why are you changing this?
We know how stressful it can be to queue on the phone or in person at the practice from 8am and then sometimes find that appointments are full. By putting all requests into one system, we can review them and help our patients in an appropriate way and ensure that all our patients are able to access the appropriate service and see the right member of our team at the right time.
How do I book an appointment?
If you have access to the internet on a phone or computer, please go to our Appointments page and click either “New Condition” or “Existing Condition,” depending on your situation. . You will be asked some information about your problem and how you would like us to deal with it. This information will help us respond to you in the most appropriate way.
Appointments with our nurses will continue to be booked in the same way as they are now, by calling the Practice.
Who reviews our appointment requests?
One of our doctors will review all requests and allocate them to the appropriate member of our team. This could be a doctor, nurse, clinical pharmacist, first contact practitioner or other relevant specialist at our practice.
Can I request medication through this system?
No. Medication requests will continue to be requested in the same way they are now, find out more about how to order your medication on our Prescriptions page.
You can however, use our new system to ask a question about your prescriptions.
What if I don’t have access to the internet or cannot fill out the form?
If you cannot use the internet or fill out the form for any reason, please call us on 01444 484056 – we will enter your details into the online form with you. This may take longer than our previous system, so please be patient and only call if you cannot use our website. The same process will apply if you come into the surgery and ask at Reception.
How will this work for me?
One of our GPs will review all requests and depending on your needs, our clinician may assist you without an appointment, this could be over the phone, or by sending you self-help resources. If a face-to-face appointment is needed, they will let you know the time of your appointment and who you will see, which may sometimes be within hours of your submission. We will endeavour to review all requests submitted before 4pm on the same day.
Please ensure that if you submit an urgent request you keep your phone to hand so that we can contact you.
If you have any further questions, please ask a member of our reception team.
